This art print is a reproduction of my original watercolor illustration of blue crawfish coming out of its mud chimney, the entrance to its complex underground burrow. This artwork is the fourth piece in a year-long Pennsylvania watershed series that comes out each month throughout 2021 and celebrates the freshwater biodiversity of the region. The artwork will also be used as labels for Dancing Gnome Brewery.
10% of the profits from each sale of this print will also benefit Nine Mile Run (https://ninemilerun.org/).
Paper: Printed by a local print shop in West Virginia on 100# textured white felt paper (for the look & feel of watercolor paper!) and vibrant, high-quality inks.
I use illustration to honor the places and creatures that often go unnoticed. My goal is to remind viewers of the amazing intricacy of our planet. I hope that after seeing my work, people will spend a few more minutes scouring the forest floor for tiny treasures on their next adventure into the woods.
Another passion of mine is creating illustrations that break down educational and scientific information in a way that is engaging to a broader audience. I want to make learning accessible to work toward a deeper collective understanding of how the earth works.
I am also an educator. So far, I’ve enjoyed teaching field sketching, watercolor illustration & outdoor observation workshops in schools, national parks, and REI stores.
