This original art print features a watercolor and ink illustrated map that I created to celebrate the outdoor activities and biodiversity that can be found at Coopers Rock State Forest in West Virginia.
Featured creatures, activities, and icons: The Coopers Rock and Raven Rock overlooks, a rock climber, hikers enjoying the view from Coopers Rock, a raven, the endangered Cheat three-toothed snail, the American chestnut tree, a timber rattlesnake, an eastern chipmunk, a rhododendron, and many more details!
Paper: Printed by a local print shop in West Virginia on 100# textured white felt paper (for the look & feel of watercolor paper!)
Size: 11" x 14"
I use illustration to honor the places and creatures that often go unnoticed. My goal is to remind viewers of the amazing intricacy of our planet. I hope that after seeing my work, people will spend a few more minutes scouring the forest floor for tiny treasures on their next adventure into the woods.
Another passion of mine is creating illustrations that break down educational and scientific information in a way that is engaging to a broader audience. I want to make learning accessible to work toward a deeper collective understanding of how the earth works.
I am also an educator. So far, I’ve enjoyed teaching field sketching, watercolor illustration & outdoor observation workshops in schools, national parks, and REI stores.
