"All of my dolls are made by sculpting a head and bust using paper clay. The body and limbs are cloth, and the body is constructed with button joints at the hips and shoulders. They are painted with acrylics, watercolor, chalk pastels, and sealed with a matte fixative. The clothing is all handmade using vintage fabric."
Doll is approx. 15" tall.
"I am a native to Huntington, WV. and have lived here all my life. I am completely self-taught as an artist and sculptor, and would consider myself an “outsider artist”. I work primarily with paper clay (air dry clay), polymer clay, acrylics, watercolor, vintage textiles, and vintage/antique embroidery. I have lately been focusing on the creation of art dolls. I really enjoy the different aspects of making dolls, and you have to utilize a number of skills in order to complete one. When constructing the clothing, I try to use only fabrics that were sourced locally. One of my favorite activities is visiting Central City, and antique shops searching for just the right fabric. I often hand-dye certain fabrics with black tea to achieve the right aesthetic." - David Harshbarger
