“In the middle of Huntington, West Virginia there’s a river. Next to this river there is a steel mill. And next to the steel mill there is a school. In the middle of the school, there is a fountain. Each year on the exact same day, at the exact same hour, the water to this fountain is turned off. And in this moment once every year, through out the town, through out the school, time stands still.” This image shows the Memorial Fountain on Marshall University's campus on a brisk, late autumn day.
This digital art print is printed from a high resolution scan of the original oil on panel painting "Marshall University Memorial Fountain", painted by Brandy Jefferys. It is printed on premium archival matte art paper & is matted to easily fit into a standard sized frame.
Hi! I’m Brandy Jefferys, a maker of paintings, drawings, and prints currently living in Huntington, WV. I earned my BFA in Studio Arts with a concentration in Drawing from Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio.
My influences are Appalachian food & culture, the tactile sensation of working with oil paint, and the beauty found in the mundane. When I’m not working on artwork, I’m probably on the couch watching too much professional wrestling.
Location: Huntington, WV
