Paige Lawrence Cruz received her ranger training at the Albright Training Center, Grand Canyon, Arizona in 1966. She was the sixth woman to go through the Intake Ranger Training Program. Her first assignment as a ranger-historian was at Cabrillo National Monument where she became the first permanent woman ranger-historian in the Western Region of the National Park Service. She also worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Huntington District and the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.
