Dolly Sods Wilderness Map Art Print 11x14
This original art print features a watercolor and ink illustrated map that I created during my time living in Canaan Valley, West Virginia (where I'm currently completing an artist residency!).
Featured creatures: carnivorous sundew plant, beaver and beaver dam, blue crayfish, cranberry plant, wild blueberries. All of the hiking trails in the wilderness area are featured on the map, along with some iconic places like Bear Rocks and Lion's Head. My backpacking friend Gabby can be seen crossing Red Creek at the forefront of the map.
Paper: Printed by a local print shop in West Virginia on 100# textured white felt paper (for the look & feel of watercolor paper!)
Hello! I’m Rosalie.I’m an illustrator specializing in creating captivating hand-rendered visuals relating to the natural world.
I use illustration to honor the places and creatures that often go unnoticed. My goal is to remind viewers of the amazing intricacy of our planet. I hope that after seeing my work, people will spend a few more minutes scouring the forest floor for tiny treasures on their next adventure into the woods.
Another passion of mine is creating illustrations that break down educational and scientific information in a way that is engaging to a broader audience. I want to make learning accessible to work toward a deeper collective understanding of how the earth works.
I am also an educator. So far, I’ve enjoyed teaching field sketching, watercolor illustration & outdoor observation workshops in schools, national parks, and REI stores.
Location: Wheeling, WV
