Following her life-long love of art Janet Lee’s (Jalee) artwork began unfolding while living in Hawaii. There she studied the art of Weaving, Stained glass and firing fused glass. Jalee also Achieved the assistant instructor level in the OHara school of Ikebana, Japanese flower design.
In 1990 JaLee acquired a new passion, working in clay. Creating functional stoneware and decorative pieces fired in the Japanese style known as Raku. She competed in local and international juried competitions and won many awards.
To this day every piece of pottery Jalee has created is one-of-a-kind. Her pottery is either thrown or hand-built, altered-distorted, embellished with slip trailing, reverse relief, sprigs, stamps, or carvings.
